Event Agenda

5:30-6:30 PM Networking Workshop Begins 

The aim of this workshop is to help you develop as a professional. Career Services will provide networking                                         advice, LinkedIn tips, and best practices to help you become a pro-networker!

6:30 PM           RECEPTION BEGINS

Apply what you have learned at the workshop and practice networking with seasoned alumni. Guided                                                networking activities will help attendees feel more at ease and relaxed throughout the event.

8:00 PM           RECEPTION ENDS

Star Networker Award and Door Prizes.

Event Description:

Mason graduate and professional students and recent Mason alums (Spring 2019 or Fall 2019 graduates) are invited to attend a fun and instructional networking reception. You will have the opportunity to connect with other students as well as with seasoned Mason alumni and employers. University Career Services will lead the evening. The evening will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres, mocktail bar and a cash bar will be available.

Learning Outcomes:

By attending the Graduate and Professional Student Networking and Etiquette Dinner event you will:

  • Understand the value of networking and learn strategies for facilitating effective connections
  • Learn how to read a room for social cues
  • Learn how to politely join or excuse yourself from conversations
  • Learn how to properly exchange business cards
  • Leverage your professional contacts to aid in your job search
  • Learn from experts on how to project an image of professionalism and credibility so others will take you seriously in the workplace


Develop your Personal Pitch: 

We encourage you to develop and practice a personal pitch in advance of the dinner so you feel prepared to introduce yourself. A personal pitch is a brief introduction about yourself that answers important questions in 30 seconds.
